About Julie

Julie was born with a weak immune system which would take her years to understand and resolve. Her desire to help heal the mind and the body has been her life’s studies, passion and work.

Julie encountered Janet Adler and the practice of Authentic Movement at age 17 and transformed her understanding of how to work with unconscious or even pre cognizant trauma through movement. She went on the study meditation and trance dance in Nepal where she earned her BA in Health and International Studies. Her studies compared different movement healing modalities and their effects on individuals within cultures. Julie’s work teaching Tai Chi and dance brought her greater understanding of how much past and current beliefs (individual and cultural) form the building blocks of health and wellness.

She went on to study in India, certify in Ayurvedic medicine and manual body treatments and opened healing Traditions in San Francisco. She worked with people form all walks of life and became more interested in her ability to facilitate movement as medicine for what the Western world names auto immune disorders.

Julie is trained to look at movement from the emotional, energy, functional and expressive aspects. These skills, developed over 30 years as a movement instructor give her the ability to see what stands out for each unique individual and a handful of tools to support three progress toward restorative health.

Julie is a Pilates and Yoga Instructor. She’s a graduate of Moving on Center (Somatic Studies) and Certified in Laban Bartenieff Movement Studies.

Be Supported

As a movement expert in mind body wellness, I am often the next step after an individual has completed Physical Therapy or has lost sight of their ability to successfully transform their condition. They are strong, powerful people who have already made great strides in re naming, integrating, balancing and transforming their “disease” but who need help and inspiration to re balance.  These individuals may have gotten swamped in work, relationship, child raising or have hit a daunting plateau and paused their process to fully restore their bodies.

People who couldn’t walk with ease pick up their membership at the gym again. Those afraid to take a group class join a yoga or Pilates class. Others find joy in unafraid hikes in the woods.

With support you can create a life centered around more easeful movement, strong, capable actions and stable and reliable connections.

sessions

Sessions are 75 minutes and best done 1-2 times per week for greatest results. These sessions will incorporate exercise in Pilates, Yoga, Bartenieff fundamentals and your movement to help reveal what is holding you back and what you need to move forward. Each session you will have immediate tools to get back to health and movement right away.
